The competition, created in 1973, brings together talented young writers from all over Bulgaria. They present their debut works in the field of poetry, prose, literary criticism and cinema screenplay. The winners are awarded with a bronze statue “Pegasus”- symbol of the competition. Haskovo Municipality awards a prize for a complete contribution in the field of literature and art in the name of the first Bulgarian book publisher Alexander Paskalev, born in the city. The literary days are accompanied by a number of events and a book bazaar.
